"Few studies can be more profitable to Christians today than that of the Epistle to the Hebrews." This past year, the book of Hebrews was the focus of my daily study. Reading and rereading the text of Scripture, and to guide me through each verse, I purchased the Reformed Expository Commentary (REC) on Hebrews authored by Richard D. Phillips. It is beyond words the depth and impact God's Word has on a believer's life and the book of Hebrews is without exception.

Dr. Phillips writings bring out the richness of Hebrews, that indeed is "profitable to Christians today." In my estimation, from the plethora of available books, there are few good books and there are even fewer that I would without hesitation recommend. Dr. Phillips commentary is an outstanding read - an understatement indeed. REC on Hebrews takes it's reader on a journey of discovery that produces a deep love or a renewed love for this particular book of the Bible.

When a commentary is true to God's Word, it is timeless. Copyright in 2007, one is tempted to think the pages of this book had just come off the printing press in 2023, ink still wet. There has been dramatic shifts in the world we live, yet Dr. Phillips' writings demonstrates that Truth is relevant through the ages.

When a gifted writer is able to direct and guide the reader to the Scriptures, the light of those Truths illumine with clarity the world we live in. Yet, REC on Hebrews never drifts away from the central message, "God, having spoken long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days spoke to us in His Son" (Hebrews 1:1-2a). Throughout this volume the reader is reminded that all of life is Jesus Christ.
